Metabolic and mood-related disturbances can increase the risks of developing adverse mental health problems. The medicinal mushroom, Ganoderma lucidum, is utilized in indigenous medicine to improve quality of life, promote health, and boost vitality.
The results show that the medicinal jujube seed capsule improved the sleep quality of postmenopausal women. Thus, it could be recommended as a safe plant with fewer complications compared to chemical and hormone drugs for the treatment of sleep disorders. Also, during the period of consuming jujube seed capsule in this study, except for a few cases of gastrointestinal disorders and in similar studies with this herbal medicine, consumers have reported no specific side effects
Additionally, studies have shown that supplementing Mg levels in mice has been demonstrated to reduce the expression of anxiety-related behavior [19,22]. A relationship between Mg status and anxiety is also evident in humans [9,23]. Mg intake was shown to be inversely associated with subjective anxiety in a large community-based survey [24]. Furthermore, Mg supplementation has been shown to attenuate the activity of the stress response via the HPAA [25,26]. Therefore, it is plausible that Mg influences anxiety states via the moderation of the stress response. (page 7)
The study by Peters et al. also showed that dietary intake of vitamin B6 correlated significantly with insomnia and sleep quality (page 2/restless leg syndrome) *would like to get access to Peter’s case. Attempt was unsuccessful.
The term nootropics (from the Greek “noos” and “tropein,” meaning “mind” and “toward,” respectively) was originally coined to describe the pharmacology of a particular drug, piracetam,3 and has now been adopted more generally as a label for the class of agents that 1) improve cognitive functions like memory and learning; 2) provide neuroprotective effects from various insults; 3) do not possess properties of classical excitants, tranquilizers, and antipsychotics; and 4) have very limited or no side effects. (page 2).
For older adults with moderate cognitive impairment, PS has produced consistently modest increases in recall of word lists. Positive effects have not been as consistently reported for other memory tests. There is one report of consistent benefits across a number of memory tests for a subset of normal adults who performed more poorly than their peers at baseline. (page 1)
When communication among neurons is compromised, the neuron networks that store memories will fail, and memory will decline. PS seems to help the neuronal membrane resist these agerelated changes in its composition, and possibly even to revitalize itself so that it can reverse some of them (page 4)
Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) alone showed that oral intake of H. erinaceus (lion’s mane) significantly improved cognitive functions and prevented from the deterioration. We speculate that various chemical compounds, including hericenones, in the mushroom have multiple effects to the brain neural networks and improve cognitive functions. Oral intake of H. erinaceus is safe and convenient method for dementia prevention so far (page 1)

L-theanine has been proved to be able to cross the blood-brain barrier, after the ingestion from 30 min up to 5 h [5], providing the efficacy of L-theanine to perform its role in regulating mental health and neurotransmitters (page 2)
Piperine from black pepper is a hot herb that can provide quick relaxation and mild pain relief by increasing blood flow and speeding up the healing process. Piperine has been reported to possess a diverse range of biologic activities, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antihyperlipidemic, antidepressant, and bioavailability-enhancing activities (page 6).
Curcuminoids have been shown to possess multiple pharmacological effects, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-hyperlipidaemic, and anti-platelet effects, and also to relieve pain and reduce swelling. Recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have revealed that curcumin has similar effects on pain relief and fewer gastrointestinal AEs than NSAIDs, such as diclofenac and ibuprofen. (page 1 &3)
In conclusion, the current findings indicate that the combination of readily accessible nonpsychoactive cannabis components CBD oil and BCP may be particularly effective in reducing neuropathic pain resulting from spinal cord injury. In addition, cannabinoid-like side effects were minimal using this combination. Further, the observed decrease in opioid-seeking behavior suggest that this treatment may be useful as a supplemental therapeutic to reduce opioid needed for effective pain management. Together, these findings are supportive of the beneficial effects of combining cannabis components in the armamentarium for chronic pain management (pg 19 & 20).
β-caryophyllene being especially studied due to its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, neuroprotective, antidiabetic, and chemopreventive properties; moreover, its ability to modulate cannabinoid CB2 receptors has been highlighted too (page 1).
